After signing on loan from Hull last season, fans wondered if Darryl would get to play for the club, initially being kept out of the team by Martinez, who stated that he wanted him to settle in first. When he did start playing, it seemed that Roberto's strategy worked, with Darryl scoring 5 goals in as many starts, including many which kept our play off hopes alive until the final game.
Darryl possesses electric pace, and great finishing abilities with intelligent runs into the box. He was a great foil for Trundle this season, and will probably start the new season as our first choice centre forward following Abbott, Trundle and Akinfenwa's departures.
