Paul Connor
Signed by Brian Flynn just before transfer deadline day in March for £35,000 from Rochdale. Paul has proved to be a hardworking, skilful striker, forging effective partnerships with both Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent. Often maligned for basically not being Lee Trundle, Paul scored a number of very important goals again last season with some excellent finishes. Our second top goal scorer with 12 finishes in 44 appearances was 3 or 4 better than our top scorers totals for a number of seasons during the 1990s. With his dyed blonde hair, one of the few players in the squad who can make Lee Trundle look macho! 2004/2005 Signed by Brian Flynn just before transfer deadline day in March for £35,000 from Rochdale. Paul has proved to be a hardworking, skilful striker, forging effective partnerships with both Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent. Strong winning the ball in the air, and with 2 good feet, Paul has proved to be a handful to most defenders since his arrival at the Vetch. Has also returned a good strike rate in front of goal, with 5 goals in 12 appearances. 2003/2004 Paul Connor is a 6 foot 2 inch centre foward and is said to be a good goal scorer. He began his career Middlesbrough signing for them straight after he left school. With his chances of first team football at The Riverside very scarce, he went on loan to Hartlepool for a month and then to Stoke where he made 3 appearences and after Boro released him they didn't hesitate to sign him permanently. Whilst at Stoke he went on loan to cambridge where he scored 5 goals in 14 games. After his time at Stoke he moved to Rochdale, who made a club record fee of £150,000 to bring him to Spotland. Connor has scored 32 goals for The Dale in his time at Spotland lets hope he can continue scoring at The Vetch.
