Some people in life are winners, some people in life are losers.
Some people are leaders - others are mere followers.
I've chosen you to play today because I believe I have 11 leaders and 11
winners.
For the next 90 minutes, we need a team of leaders who accept NOTHING but
WINNING.
There are 11 men out there who man for man think they're better than you -
they think they're worth MORE than you....can put one over on you and think
they can BEAT you. They think you know less than them and are weaker than
them. They think you don't deserve to be on the same park as them and would
do you every time !
Your family think you are better - your wife, children, mothers, fathers,
grandmother and grandfather all think you are special....a special
individual who can beat anyone when you put your mind to it.
From now on, go into every tackle and think of what you want - do you want
to let down all the people who care for you or do you want to stand up and
be counted ? Do you want to come out with the ball at your feet and a wry
smile of satisfaction......satisfaction of knowing your loved ones are
right.
On the terraces today there'll be 500 fans who have travelled 4 hours to
get here. They've left THEIR families behind in Swansea or other parts of
Britain and said, "I'm going to support my team". These people don't do it
because they get paid for it - they do it because the BELIEVE and they
LOVE. They believe in YOU...... THEY LOVE OUR TEAM.....and nothing would
mean more to them today than to see 11 men give 100% for them and their
families.
You might have the influence over your own family's thoughts of you, but
you have far much more power than that. You can influence thousands of
people who will be effected by your performance. The people who travel back
to Swansea after this game want to walk through their front doors with big
smiles and say, "I'm SO proud to be a Swan.....I'm so proud of the team
TODAY"
So, get out there, look at the Swans fans behind the goal and think of your
families.
Look into the eyes of the man you are marking or the one marking you and
SMILE.......because YOU ARE GOING TO WIN.
