Ferrie Bodde
Profile was provided by Andrew Thomas
What can you say about Ferrie? Signed from ADO Den Haag for an original £50k which subsequently rose to £80k based on appearances, Ferrie was an important part of last year's League One championship winning squad.
A strong tackler with outstanding vision and passing abilities, he also scored some vitally important goals. There are some question marks over his temperament though, as he spent 8 games suspended last season following two sendings off.
Despite the fact that he has been the subject of a number of speculative bids by Derby County for his signature, Ferrie's undying gratitude to the club for bringing him into the British game and his fierce sense of loyalty (as well as a two years remaining on his contract) will undoubtedly ensure he remains at the club for some time yet.
A little known fact about Ferrie is that he once starred alongside Mike Myers in the Austin Powers films.
2007/2008
Ferrie began his career at Dutch side ADO Den Haag where he came up through the clubs youth academy and made his debut as an 18 year old in 2000.
After only making 4 appearances in his first season as a senior player, Bodde has gone on to be ever present in the centre of the Den Haag midfield. Even after the clubs promotion to the Eredivisie (the top division in the Dutch league), he still remained a regular in the team.
Unfortunately, after a four year stint in the Dutch top flight, Den Haag were relegated, and after 15 years at the club, Ferrie felt it was time to move on with a move to the UK looking most likely despite interest from Feyenord and FC Zurich.
Aberdeen were in the running to sign former Dutch Under 23 international but were scared off by Den Haag's £70,000 price tag. And after a trip to The Liberty Stadium to see the Swans 6 - 3 defeat to Blackpool, Bodde has signed for the Swans on a long term, performance related deal for a fee of around £70,000.
Manager Roberto Martinez has said he is a good passer of the ball, tactically very aware and is aggressive in the right way - a playmaker of the highest quality.
