Dennis Lawrence
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Despite sometimes coming in for a lot of unfair criticism levelled against him, Dennis has played on without making a fuss, and his defensive partnership with Garry Monk coupled with the team's ability to score goals resulted in the clubs most successful season ever.
Despite his 6'7” frame, Dennis isn't as dominating in the air as some think he should be. Having said that, he still wins his fair share of headers, but his real strength is in his ability to play the ball out of defence, and you rarely see a high, lofted clearance from him.
Dennis was thrilled to have received an award from the PFA for having the skinniest legs in the League.
2007/2008
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Dennis joined the club from Wrexham in a £75,000 deal early last season, and quickly installed himself in the heart of the Swans' defence, but has also contributed with his fair share of goals .
Made famous for his performances in the 2006 World Cup whilst playing for Trinidad and Tobago, his most notable performance was when he kept Peter Crouch at bay in the game against England.
With his long, spindly legs, a tackle from behind by Dennis has been likened to a sexual assault from a Daddy Long Legs.
2006/2007
A towering centre half that represented Trinidad & Tobago in the last World Cup in Germany. He partnered ex-Swans target Brent Sancho in the heart of defence, which held Sweden to a 0 - 0 draw despite playing the second half with 10 men. He also played a part in the 2 - 0 defeat to England, which included late goals from Peter Crouch and Steven Gerrard, during the competition.
He has been ever present in the Wrexham defence since he joined from the Trinidad side Defence Force 2001, and has contributed with 16 goals in over 200 appearances for the Dragons.
Dennis looks to be signed as cover whilst Garry Monk he is out injured, he has signed a 2 year contract for an undisclosed fee. Garry suffered knee ligament damage in the 2 - 2 draw with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park which keeps out for at least 6 months.
